Careers
Social care is a key public service which makes a positive difference to people's lives. Social care covers a broad spectrum and can involve working with children, young people and their families, older people, people with learning and physical disabilities or people with mental health challenges. There are an estimated 2 million people who receive social care services in England. Demographic trends suggest that the demand for social care services is likely to increase.
Skills for Care have created the "I Care" Career pathways section of their site recently. These pages are for people considering starting in social care and for those already working in the sector who are keen to see what career development opportunities there are. The pages use text and video to explain 'what is social care?', 'starting in social care' and 'developing your career'.
