Consultation on Migration event
02 August 2010
News
The government has asked the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC), an independent expert body on migration, to provide advice on the level of the permanent economic migration limit for its first full year of operation. The permanent limit is intended to be implemented from April 2011.
As well as the economic impacts, the MAC has also been asked to take into account the social and public service impacts of immigration on the UK.
To this end, you are invited to an event to contribute your views on the impact of the proposed limits on migration of non-EU members on social care in the South East. The event is taking place on the morning of 26 August in central London. Full details are attached word documents of the invite document and the booking form.
Skills for Care are supporting the event and have been asked to arrange representation from adult social care employers and stakeholders in the South East. This is a key consultation event, the outcome of which will have a direct impact on current and future policy on migration. MAC is seeking specific feedback - and as a guidance please read the information on page 2 of the meeting agenda.
If you plan to attend, please ensure that you complete the booking form attached and returned to Bernadette Butler at your earliest convenience - and no later than Tuesday 17 August.
