The Log on to Care Project
The 9 Local Authorities in the Thames Valley area lead a project called Log on to Care to deliver good quality “blended learning” (face to face and computer based) training programmes for staff working in a range of care settings across the whole of the Thames Valley.
The project encourages people working in Care Homes and Domiciliary agencies to train on a range of training programmes on a free basis. The project won the prestigious national Skills for Care accolade in 2006 in the “most innovative learning project” category, and over 4,000 learners have been trained in the last 4 years.
Feedback from the participants and the organisations has been very positive, with over 95% completion of learning, effective contribution towards NVQ units (and the latest Skills for Care Knowledge sets), delivered in “bite sized” modules at the organisations premises, using lap tops and CD ROMS provided by the project.
Log on to Care has produced 8 training modules in partnership with E Learning providers, and you can access 4 of the Modules direct by clicking on the topic you are interested in the left hand margin. All the Modules have Tutor and learner notes to support effective delivery. The remaining Modules are available on CD ROM currently, but we are looking at making these available to access on line over the next 3 months, and people will be able to work through the Modules on line, and get scores and certificates.
