Social Care Institute for Excellence - as part of its role in promoting good practice in social care, the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) is concerned with improving human resource practice throughout the sector. - Business Link - highly recommended site that contains lots of useful, practical advice, links, interactive tools (e.g. it will create a “contract of employment” for you and has a calculator to work out holiday entitlement).
- ACAS - has lots of guidance documents and model documents., The site has recently be redesigned and is far easier to navigate and find documents.
- Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (formerly DTI) - useful authoritative site and contains example documents and checklists. Useful if you need to check out detailed issues.
- Employment Tribunals Services - this website contains guidance and has booklets such as “Responding to an Employment Tribunal Claim” which can be easily downloaded.

Voluntary Organisations should visit the National Council for Voluntary organisations (NCVO) website, as the NCVO’s Workforce Development team provides advice and support to voluntary and community organisations to enable them to recruit, retain and develop their workforce.
